Get Certified! - Online CPR Course
Get ready for another fun-filled NCSP river season and we always start with lots of training! We made a few exciting changes this year! Joe Bennett will be using the American Heart Association online CPR course which is the most efficient way to get certified! Your certifications have to be up-to-date for CPR, if you wish to renew membership with NCSP and continue patrolling.
All you have to do is register on-line, take one of two online courses (which are available 24/7 and may be started and stopped as you wish), print a certificate, and join Joe on Sunday afternoon following NCSP Training Weekend to complete the course by testing your skills on the Annie’s and AEDs.
Successful completion of courses requires three parts: The online course, a hands-on skills practice session, and a skills test with Joe. Joe is an authorized BLS Professional Rescuer and Heartsaver Instructor. All certifications and continued access to the website and manual is good for two years. The two courses:
CPR AED (Heartsaver® CPR AED Online Part 1 #90-1402). Total cost is $48.00 ($23.00 on-line payment and a $25.00 skills practice and testing session which includes all materials). Time online: 1 to 2 hours which covers Adult/child CPR, Adult/child choking, Adult/child AED use, and Infant CPR and choking.
1st Aid CPR AED (Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED Online Part 1 #90-1401) Total $75.00 ($39.95 on-line payment and a $35 session, which includes all materials). Time online: 1.5 to 2.5 hours. This course teaches First aid basics, Medical emergencies, Adult/child CPR, Adult/child choking, and Adult/child AED use.
If you reside in the Greater Lehigh Valley, Joe will also be teaching Friday, May 3, 9:30 am at Wildlands Conservancy in Emmaus, Sunday, May 5, 6:30 pm at Jim Thorpe River Adventures, and Friday May 31, 2:30 pm at Wildlands Conservancy. Call him to schedule these dates.

Everyone is welcome to volunteer (15 years of age and under must be accompanied by parent or guardian, under 18 need permission from parent or guardian). A new marketplace section has been added to the NCSP Web Site to sell or trade equipment. Simply log into the web site using the same username and password you originally setup, click on "Gear For Sale or Trade" and create a new entry. You can also delete entries and edit listing as well. If you have any problems using the new section or have suggestions for categories, please contact Troy. If you are unable to create a listing, you can also email the information to Troy for posting. This section is open to the public, anyone can see the listings but only members can post an ad. Members may post ads for other paddlers or list equipment that may be useful for NCSP members.
